13 y.o. convicted of murder in wrestling death

Not that I was there to see what happened, but if it was an accident shouldn't it have been manslaughter?

My understanding was that first degree murder is premeditated and plotted out.
 
I thought so too, but in Florida:

Under Florida law, the jurors did not have to conclude Lionel meant the girl's July 1999 death to convict him, but only that his actions were intentional and abusive.

That law just sounds really unjust.
That definition for what they call murder sounds like manslaughter to me.
 
Actually it wasn't an accident. That little girl was beaten badly! Her skull was fractured, her arms broken, she had bruises and was bleading every where. It wasn't just some wresteling accident. I saw this on the local news and it was just bad.

The law is a little unjust though

Who knows. I saw this on TV, and it changed my opinion a bit. I mean, who knows if he's telling the truth or not. From her injuries, he's either one mighty dumb little kid, or he's a murderer. I don't think we'll ever know which one.
 
Ok now a 12 year old trying to imitate wrestling moves on a 6 year old. One I hate to keep pointing to the all so popular scape goat but where were the parents. And the defenses claim that
Lionel is immature and didn't understand that pro wrestlers are trained to look like they beat each other without hurting each other.

Just dosnt make sense to me. If he is old enough to watch wrestling then he is old enough to figure out that it is FAKE. So I dont think i buy the idea that the death was an accident. But that is just my humble opinion.
