Atonement?

Would you say "I'm sorry, Father for having sinned" when you've done someone wrong, like cheating on your wife, and being unfair to your coworkers/not being loyal to your friends? Have you tried to think of any way to cleanse yourself of all sins? I always do ask for "God's pardon" even if I'm an Atheist and don't believe in anything.

I do ask God for forgiveness, but not now. As i do the same thing again i felt it is not right to go again and again to ask for forgiveness.

I don't ask God for forgiveness because I don't believe in him, not quite sure why you would ask for God's pardon if you don't believe in him. It kind of makes you contradict your own beliefs.

If I want forgiveness for something I've done then I will go to the person that I've done something to and ask for forgiveness. It's not God that you are supposed to be apologising to, it's the person the you have wronged that you should seek forgiveness from.

yes, I'm more of an Agnostic then. I want to believe there's a "Higher Power" like in Harry Potter. Not exactly like the Christian God or anything. Of course, I'd ask my peers first for forgiveness too and then confess to my own "God" for "clean consciousness", so I do somewhat believe in a "Mother figure" and am thankful for what she's done for me.

Do you have any Gods in mind for this? I'd like to pray to a fertility's Goddess, a "she" force if you will.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am in control of my own life. What happens with me is because of me, not because of any higher being.

When I was weak and crying, she's comforted me and gave me hope/light when I was alone/in the dark. I know I sound crazy to you perhaps, but I see a "she-fairy" in my mind when I'm praying/oding to her. When I confessed my faults to her, she's always told me "she's loved me and encouraged me to get up from my own failures". She's always been kind to me and pardoned me.
