George Harrison has died in Los Angeles after a long battle with cancer.
The former Beatle was 58.
He died at a friend's home. His wife, Olivia, and son, Dhani, were at his side.
Longtime family friend Gavin De Becker said: "He died with one thought in mind - love one another."
In 1998, when Harrison disclosed that he had been treated for throat cancer, he said: "It reminds you that anything can happen."
The following year, he survived an attack by an intruder who stabbed him several times at his mansion in Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire.
In July 2001, he released a statement asking fans not to worry about reports that he was still battling cancer.
Liverpudlian writer Carla Lane said the city of Liverpool should pay homage to Harrison.
She told the BBC: "He was a very nice, warm, full of fun guy."
