The Jennifer Lopez-Ben Affleck wedding is off - and some friends said last night it was a case of cold feet at the last minute.
The official reason for the stunning cancellation was that the press had ruined what was supposed to be the Hollywood marriage of the decade by turning it into a media circus.
"Due to the excessive media attention surrounding our wedding, we have decided to postpone the date," spokesmen for Lopez and Affleck said in a carefully orchestrated joint statement.
"We began to feel that the spirit of what should have been the happiest day of our lives could be compromised. We felt what should have been a joyful and sacred day could be spoiled for us, our families and our friends."
But friends suggested the couple - especially Affleck - might be having doubts about committing to each other.
"I think they have cold feet," said a wedding guest, who was told not to fly from New York to the planned Bennifer nuptials Sunday in Santa Barbara, Calif. "Friends have been urging Ben to take it slow. They were under too much pressure. I think the romance will survive. But Ben is having real second thoughts."
