Crate & Barrel has issued a statement that their New York personnel have been told that they are not permitted to say the words "Merry Christmas" anywhere on the premises.
Management stated that they refuse to verbally respond to any customer who wishes the staff a "Merry Christmas"!
I say that those bashers in New York should refuse to shop at Crate & Barrel!! Screw em!!
There are two stores that I am aware of in New York City. One is located in the Upper East Side at 650 Madison Ave., and the other is in the Cable Building at 611 Broadway.
It is time to reclaim our rights as Christians and our God given right to celebrate CHRISTMAS!!! I bet dollars to donuts that if I had a prayer mat and decided to get on my knees and moon the staff, they would serve me milk and cookies!!!
Dam straight, I am tired of non Christians ruining Christmas for the rest of us. Only in this nation can a smaller group of people dictate what the rules are and it makes me sick. I never even heard of these stores and I don't go to Manhattan except for school so they don't got to worry about getting my business.
I must agree with Chris' sentiments - don't take the joy our of Christmas for the rest of us. It's just not right. I think I'll send a letter detailing my thoughts to Crate & Barrel, in light of tha fact that they send me 14 million catalogs a year!!
My husband's company is non union. When he gets involved in a building project where there are union guys, he has to pay out union wage to his guys. It's a killer for him.
If someone says Happy Hanuka, do you get "offended" by it? If someone says Happy Kwanzaa, do you get "offended" by it (you might if you knew the REAL history behind it, and who invented it, and why, but that is another issue)? If someone says Happy Ramadan, do you get "offended" by it? If someone says Happy Martin Luther King day, do you get "offended" by it? If someone says Happy 4th of July, do you get "offended" by it? If you do, then go see a shrink, because you have a mental problem!
If someone says "Merry Christmas", and you get "offended" by it, THEN STAY THE **** HOME DURING THE HOLIDAYS, OR GO FIX THE PROBLEM YOU HAVE, AND STOP TRYING TO RUIN IT FOR THE REST OF US! :angry4:
Christmas is a FEDERAL US HOLIDAY, and therefore, it is perfectly justifiable for anyone US Citizen to wish someone in the US a Merry Christmas. Personally, I boycott any store that does goes out of it's way to show no sign of Christmas. This year, Best Buy is on my **** list, and it kinda sucks, because I like Best Buy. But, since they won't say Merry Christmas, I won't buy any Christmas gifts there. Plain and simple.
I am offended by very little, as long as you don't call my mother, my cat or MrD names. I DO completely agree with you on this one, Nova. People should be able to be comfortable in this world of ours, and experience LEGAL enjoyment wherever and whenever they can. Life's too damned short.
