I will be looking from now until late December (yes long time) for a laptop. I will be using it mostly for word processing but I also want a DVD Rom so I can watch movies on my way to and from work. I don't need anything really wonderful, just something I will be able to do my school work on.
What are your suggestions? I don't really want to spend too much either.

if you were looking for expensive and BEST i would say go IBM, but you're best bet may be a local store, just tell them what you want and see what they say
or gateway even
they have some decent prices
as far as specs....from what it sounds like anything will do for you as long as it has a decent dvdrom
