Police say a woman found dead in a San Jose, Calif., home is a 60-year-old carjacking victim, but that the parolee suspected of killing her is still at large, KTVU reported Sunday.
Paul Ray Castillo is wanted in the robbery and shooting of a 42-year-old man as he pumped gas Friday, San Jose police spokesman Jose Garcia said. The victim is expected to survive.
After the robbery, police said Castillo, 33, drove to a nearby shopping center and approached Cindy Nguyen, who was having car problems.
Nguyen hadn’t been seen until police located her body Saturday morning. Investigators learned that Castillo had ties to the address, Garcia said, but he could not provide additional details.
"We want the community to be aware that he is armed and dangerous," Garcia said.
want the community to be aware that he is armed and dangerous," Garcia said.
Castillo was seen Friday evening in an apartment complex, leading nearly 60 officers, police dogs and helicopters to search the area and nearby neighborhood for him.
Officers shot at Castillo when they saw him come at them in a threatening manner, police said, but it was not clear whether he was hit.
