Can you believe this - I bought a new VCR on Sunday.

Still no DVD player at my house, but we bought a new VCR.

Here's why:

1) New TV season starts in a couple weeks.
2) I work further away then I used to and hence will get home later.
3) Prime time starts an hour earlier in Central Time Zone than other time zones.
4) I need to tape all the TV shows I watch, because I won't ever get home until they're over!
5) Mechanism that sucks in/spits out tapes has gone kaput.

Also, a fair number of the videos we have aren't yet available on DVD.

We'll get a DVD eventually, but it was kinda annoying to have to get a new VCR.

Sounds like you needed Tivo not a vcr. But congrats anyway, Its always fun to get new stuff.

I thought about a Tivo, but then I wouldn't be able to keep some of the stuff (I have almost every Friends episode ever aired on tape right now), or watch the movies we have on VHS right now.

At least we got a pretty decent one for $140.

Cool .. there are way too many VCRs in my house, about 6 at the moment .. every bedroom has a TV/VCR and the Kitchen and the Living room have TV/VCRs, there are also a DVD player that floats around, but thats otherwise known as the PS2.
