There's a big protest in Chicago right now. They want that liberal mayor gone. It's looking like the same old mob doing the same old thing that we've seen over and over. Now I'm a fan of any movement to oust any liberal...but I'm not really a fan of mob mentality and riots. Will it become a riot? We shall see. The sun is setting in Chicago right now.

You guys think anything will come from this short term or long term? Will it remain peaceful? Will Obama's buddy Rahm lose his job?

*facepalm* I am from that state and I have to say that I am not surprised...

I'm sure most of those people voted the guy into office. So why does mayor need to be thrown out?

There was a sketchy police shooting and they're blaming everyone in power basically. I'm not very sure of the details but out of the past two years of mob mentality of police shootings this is the first one that might actually be valid.  Although I prefer to let the courts sort it out.  Mob mentality never gets anyone anywhere.

--Short term...I don't think much will happen; the officer involved in the McDonald shooting is facing a Murder-1 charge and the CPD superintendent has been thrown under the bus, so there's not much more that could happen there.

--Long term: I could definitely see things going in Chicago the way things went in Los Angeles following the LAPD's Rampart Scandal in 1998; in & of itself, it was just another scandal involving a scandal-plagued police dept. However, given the LAPD's history at times, it was the proverbial last straw and the Feds' eventually got a long-term consent decree agst. the LAPD, which they've only now started to get out from under. Given the CPD's history over the past few decades, I could see something similar.

--Will Ramhbo lose his job: I don't see how he keeps it and even if he does, he's political toast in the Windy City.

What's up with those new liberals, they all scream "I am an individual" simultaneously, I mean common. Also most of those new "activists" are just uneducated pampered babies to be frank, hence I don't like those kind of people.. I think nowadays it's just "in" to protest, no matter what.

Looked into it a bit more, don't seem like the mayor is going to back down from this. Hopefully this can be resolved peacefully.

I don't think Rahmbo's going to back down, but I'll say this: if that police shooting video had come out prior to the mayoral election earlier this year, odds are he loses that election.

That's why it's so much of a scandal.  He hid that video and that's probably the reason.  Theres no way he would have won re-election.

I'm like Deomon_skeith. I prefer to let the court settle things like that. I mean, the people have the right to protest and all (as long as it is peaceful). But if you don't like the mayor, vote him out of office the next time election time comes up. Find someone who will do a better job and vote that person into office.

The problem is the mayor fraudulently withheld information that would have stopped his re-election. The re-election just happened a month ago and the Mayor is elected every four years. It's a bit harsh to say to the citizens of Chicago "too bad, suck it up until next time and vote him out" - the next election wont be until 2020. He won his term on something that was certainly unethical.

He'll probably either resign (as he should) or be kicked out by a recall. Looks like a recall may already be in action. Of course before a recall legalities and laws must be in place and that's what Illinois is currently trying to get.

Well, he should most certainly resign then.  I'm not saying they citizens there should "suck it up".  I just thought they were getting ready to have an election there and that they could just vote the guy out of office here shortly.

Nope, the election was in the past November primary :)
