Singer and actress Courtney Love was admitted to hospital in Los Angeles and subsequently released after a suspected drug overdose, according to US reports.
It followed her arrest for allegedly breaking windows at a friend's house, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Less than an hour after being released by police she was found at a private residence after an emergency call on Thursday, the paper said.
The former Hole singer, 39, was taken to Century City Hospital and treated for a possible drug overdose, it added. Police had confirmed a woman Beverly Hills paramedics had taken to hospital was Love.
The newspaper said the hospital had said she was no longer being treated by Thursday lunchtime.
When arrested by police the singer had been booked for investigation into illegal drug use, and had posted bail for $2,500 (£1,600).
Love, the widow of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, has in the past battled with drug problems.
