Now that subscriptions are becoming more and more popular, do you pay to read or watch news or do you still go to free sources to find out what is happening in the world? There are lots of publications that have a paid model for their articles.

I don't know anyone that would pay to read or watch the news. It's the one thing that I think ads are more effective source of revenue. Would you ever pay for a service like this and if so, why would you?

Not only do I not pay for my news, I refuse to watch the news. People may say that it means that I am narrow minded but I just think that the news can be so negative all the time it can be hard to deal with all the negativity I just don't want to surround myself with it. if I was to watch/read the news I would use a free source though as I don't think people should need to pay for news.

The news should be free, its something people have a right to know as it could directly impact them. So I wouldn't ever pay for it. It's like a weather forecast, it should be free and easy for everyone to access regardless of financial stability/ability to commit to subscriptions etc.

I used to buy newspapers which I guess is paying for news. But I don't do that anymore as there is so many online free news sources which are more up to date than newspapers. I just think its so easy to get free news may as well save the money

I don't spend money to get information. Information is available free online. I do not have to buy newspapers to get news, I don't have t pay for cable TV to subscribe to news channels. News is free on the internet.

It's probably been 20 years since we paid for the news! We used to get a newspaper every day and then prices went up so we only got the Sunday papers for the coupons. And then that was too much money so we stopped it all together. I'm glad I can look at multiple news sources online now.

Years ago, when I was practicing journalism and when the internet was very expensive in the country, I used to buy newspapers on regular basis. I lso subscribed to news channel by paying additional money. But I have stopped doing so when internet becamse cheaper in the country. Last time I bought newspaper was probably 10 years ago.

Well you pay for a newspaper, you pay your cable bill to get the news channels. Those are outdated references but we have always paid for news.

This is the perfect example of paying for news. When one buys the newspaper, it is more like paying for news because you want to read the news on those newspapers.

I nowadays always find my news through free sources rather than buying access to news or even buying newspapers or magazines. There are many sites out there that offer free news updates that I use. It helps a lot for those who can't always afford to buy newspapers or magazines so they do not miss out on news.

You are right when you put it that way. I get most of my news from the internet but because I pay for access to the internet, I in a sense pay for the news I read as well so I guess we are still paying for news even if we do not realize it.

No, I don’t pay for news. I get the news for free on my news app that’s included on my iphone and i read the news for free on social media as well.

I don't pay for the news, if you look for it you find it for free, why should I pay for the news? It's the big media that want to charge readers for the news by taking advantage of their popularity, I'm not going to pay for that.

One of the things that social media has done for us is democratization of news. News are being broken easily on social media platforms and blogs. And I don't have to pay for news.

Even though I pay cable subscription, that has many news channels, the bulk of my news is gotten from social media and forums free of charge. What I get from the paid news channels is in depth analysis of the news and trending events.
