Do you think more restrictions should be placed on social media?

Technically I think you have to be aged 13 or over to use Facebook, but needless to say loads of children joined the site anyway. Personally I think there should be more restrictions placed to ensure that we safeguard our youngsters, as well as prevent them from doing anything stupid that may effect their future prospects.

Taking the above article for example; her stupid comments when she was young effectively ruined her career which was a really good opportunity for her. I doubt if she'd had known at that age she would have done it (who knows), but it just goes to show how whatever we say on these sites can have a detrimental impact on our lives. I've definitely said stupid things in the past, and it's through luck it hasn't effected me yet.

I honestly think that 13 is far too young to be using Facebook. I'd go as far as to say 15/16 is more appropriate.

I think there should be more restrictions. 14/15, maybe even 16 for Facebook seems better suited than 13.
My sister's 13 in July, and if I had any choice in the matter I wouldn't let her join Facebook full-stop..
The internet is really quite a dangerous place when you start thinking about it, and I wouldn't want my sister seeing some of the things I've seen on my Facebook or Twitter.
She has a Youtube Account and finds that bad enough and I worry about her using it. She's been in tears before because of people making fun of her efforts at animation or calling her really quite nasty things. No reason the same kinda thing couldn't happen on Facebook.
