DOTA 2, a game which has been in beta phase for at 'least two years, has finally been released for free to the public. Previously, access to the game was given through invites or by purchasing the game for ?20, with the former method originally being very selective with who was chosen to participate.
If you've played the original DOTA or games such as League of Legends, then you'll know what to expect from DOTA 2. A highly competitive "MOBA", DOTA 2 is widely regarded as one of the top games in the competitive gaming scene. With it's release to the public, it'll be interesting to see how much activity perks up and how far the game develops from here on.
Since it's a high quality free-to-play game, I recommend you check it out: http://store.steampowered.com/app/570/
