i'm new here and oh boy do i have some bashing to do :).

email. holy crap. in the business world it's cool, people reply to emails quickly 'cuz it's usually something important that will cost a company dearly if they don't deal with it. BUT then you get into the world of personal emails, to friends/family/whatever. omg is this ever annoying! so very many people that i know live farther away than i care to call, especially with something as free and convenient to use as email. but they don't reply for weeks and weeks! i can understand if they don't check their email (another gripe i could raise, maybe i will), but usually the reply i get, weeks and weeks later, starts "sorry i took so long to get back to you, i saw the email a while ago but i've been busy...". it doesn't take a long time to just send an email back saying "hey, got your email, get back to you soon!". ARGH. until then you wonder if your email is just lost in the mists of cyberspace or if the person is ok or if they just don't care to talk to you anymore or whatever! so very very annoying. email needs to start being taken more seriously in the world. akin to a phone message maybe (even though this is also admittedly low priority). yeah, ok, i think i've ranted enough, to sum up: check your email and reply to it!

Great post, rascal! I agree - too many people don't take emails as seriously as they should. I have a few addresses, one I designate specifically to serious, business or important messages, one is for news updates and certain subscriptions, another for "funny stuff" and yet another main address I share with MrD. I check mail everyday, because there are things that need attending to from and by people who HATE the phone (myself included).

Great first post me thinks. And very mportant too it does get annoying when you want a reply back NOW! and you have to wait a life time for it. Luckily I tell if I have an email straight away when I log on because usually I log straight onto msn :) well most of the time anyways :P

argggggghhhhhhh!!! it's happening again!! i WISH WISH WISH that there was some way to at least know if the people are READING the stupid emails. that would make me feel so much better. months without replies!! bash bash bash!!

(next falling star that's what i'm wishing for lol)

There may be a way for you to check to see if your e-mails are read. The e-mail service I use allows you to request a "read recipt," "delivery recipt" or both. However, it's a campus e-mail service, so I don't know if you can get the feature anywhere else, or how to find it if it is already part of your e-mail system. But if it exists here, chances are it exists elsewhere.

it's always going to happen...someone who cannot be bothered someone who is always 'too busy'. I rmeber a conversation with a mate a couple of months ago they were laughing at me because I sit on the computer alot, but I kept thinking 'yes but at least my world isn't centred around it like you are to your phone'

I can't STAND phones. Oftentimes it will ring here at the House of D and I just walk right on by. MrD has caught on, as well. That's why answering machines and Caller ID was invented! I much prefer communicating by email, and if neccessary follow up with a SHORT phone call.

Some people don't answer my e-mails but instead of getting mad I get even. At least once daily I send them an e-card or forward an e-zine I have received. Full those boxes until the person screams "stop already!"
