LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The FBI said on Tuesday it is investigating a plot to kidnap film actor Russell Crowe, the New Zealand-born, Oscar-nominated star of "Gladiator."
No details of the plot were given, but an FBI spokeswoman in Los Angeles said the agency had interviewed Crowe about the situation as part of its probe.
The FBI normally declines to comment on pending investigations, but decided to make an exception in this case because of media reports surfacing in recent days.
"In light of that, we have confirmed that we have an investigation into a plot to kidnap him," the spokeswoman, Laura Bosley, said. She said the probe was continuing.
