Ford Motor Co. announced three rounds of recalls for eight of their 2013 models. The largest round of recall reached 465,000 vehicles.
Due to multiple complaints received by the company which has reached 600 as of March 31, the company decided to announce recall to have the cars checked and replaced if needed to avoid the hazard of fuel leaks. These leaks may set the entire engine on fire if ignited. More than 700,000 vehicles are expected to be recalled this year.
Eight 2013 models of which are the all-new Ford Fusion, Explorer, Flex, Taurus, and Police Interceptors utilities and sedans, and Lincoln MKS, MKT and MKZ vehicles are subject for recall. In the U.S alone, Ford expects the number to reach 390,000.
Well, it seemed that it is not just about the fuel leaks.
The second round of recall involves 400 units of 2013 Lincoln MKZ sedans are being recalled from Canada and 100 in the U.S as the model has engine block heaters which may have problem with insulation. The cord may crack and result to electrical shock and oxidization.
The final round of recall is for 23 units of 2013 Ford Fusion sedans to replace the steering wheels which may have been released without an internal retaining clip. The driver may lose control of the steering wheel if not fixed immediately.
