(mobile synergetics via slashdot) - Electronics Giant General Electric plans to convert most of company fleet to electric/hybrid vehicles by 2015.

In what’s touted as the largest-ever single electric vehicle commitment, GE plans to acquire 25,000 electric vehicles by 2015. The buying spree will initially involve 12,000 GM vehicles, beginning with GM’s Chevy Volt in 2011.

I guess this is great for GM, who is already suffering a huge loss in their industry compared to other firms.

I think in the future GM will have the upper hand having green type vehicles.

I haven't seen Honda or Toyota push much into the green type of vehicles yet.

What about the Toyota Prius?? It was the first mass-produced hybrid vehicle (sold since 1997).

Ah! your right, gosh how could I forget. I drove one of those long ago for testing.

Actually it wasn't bad, but felt really squishy inside.

The downside to it is the fact that hybrids = more maintainence.

I mean you got to service and engine AND the electrical system eg. batteries. So double the costs.... :(

Cf. FUD. Cf. Chilling Effect.

Cf. automobile . Compare hybrid car .

Every car has an electrical system that needs to be maintained alongside the engine. Cf. alternator.
