that's rite folks.. geforce3 which i believe is Nvidia's NV20.. anyways.. you gotta start saving up your lunch money for this baby.. $599 priced at compusa..
That's not too bad a price, considering that it's not too much more expensive than a 64MB GF2 Ultra.
I would hope it would be significantly faster, however.

the speed rite now is like a geforce2U.. and won't increase until game developers take advantage of the new features in the Geforce3.. Doom3 is anticipated as the 1st to do so and we won't see that released until 2002
$600 is ridiculous considering you can spend ~$100-~$150 on stuff that is not the most high end....but still gets the job done. If you time with those cycles every few years, you will spend WAY less money and still have great enjoyment.

The thing that worries me it that the price keeps rising with every generation. A high end, souped up computer system 20 years ago was $4,000, and it still is around that today with all the bells and whistles (well it's not 3X the price at least), but the video cards a few years ago, were about $250, but they went up to $300, then $400+ for the GeForce2, and now, we have ~$600 video cards. I'm sure Doom will be one great game, but if the card costs 12x the game, I'll pass and see how my geforce1 fairs.
(The prices may be off, I just estimated based on what I saw in stores and personal buys, etc.)
