I don't know much about him off screen but I loved his Glee character. It's sad that he died so young and with such a massive future ahead of him. <3

'I'm gutted. Shocked and saddened to hear the news': Celebrities mourn Glee star Cory Monteith with shocked condolence tweets.

The majority of that article is just ****ty celebs using this as publicity.

Also, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say drugs.

haha yeah sorry about that, the article I had on my phone was better. Just grabbed the first one I saw on Google News tbh.

Also you're right, he checked himself into rehab not too long ago so god knows what was going on with him.

I never watched Glee and I wasn't a fan really, but I just can't believe someone so talented and young would throw away their life for drugs. He and Lea Michelle were going to get married in a couple of weeks too ;_;

I know right... So sad. How she's probably already got her dress and everything ._.

Meh, if it was drugs then he deserves whatever he gets.

Drug users have made some mistakes but to think they deserve less of our compassion because of their life style is something I completely disagree with. Some family members of mine have gotten involved in drugs but I know that only one of them are in the situation because of their own mistakes entirely... So I know better than to judge all drug addicts as a whole. Of course they make the individual choices to take the drug in the first place, that is why I understand where you're coming from, but we all make mistakes and bad choices and not everyone deserves to die from it.

It's a **** shame, especially considering he was due to get married soon. Just imagine how broken the cast of Glee would feel. I mean, I bet it's soul crushing enough as it is to just be on that terrible show, but the guy they've worked with and become friends with for the past three years or so has died. I hear he was trying to come clean anyway. These things happen.

"Mistakes" is a fun word. He's a teen icon, plenty of impressionable people love him, want to be him, etc. And put simply, he is/was a drug addict. If you're in a position of power like that, you're a role model to others. By his doing drugs, I shudder to think how many stupid kids decided it was cool and picked up the habit because of him. If drugs are what killed him, he's an idiot, pure and simple. Think about how the people who found him must have felt. Think about the paramedics, the doctors who had to deal with it, when there are people suffering from real problems they did not bring upon themselves.

As this thread was a way of saying RIP I think I'ma just say that I hope his family are ok and that he will definitely be missed. I'd rather not discuss whether someone deserved to die or not the day after they died on a RIP thread about them so I'ma just leave with this. (y)

Nobody deserves to die so young :(

Only watched Glee a few times with my friend's Mum but it was still sad to hear, RIP
Feel bad for his fiance too <3

I have to agree with you here.

RIP Cory.

Explain.

Apparently he got into drugs at age 13, can't say a conscious choice was made.

Are you inferring that people age 13 are incapable of telling the difference twixt right and wrong?

How about the fact he went into rehab at 19? He died age 31, you can't say that between those two time periods he was still an idiotic teen.

Guys, as much as I welcome debate and discussion, could you perhaps make a debate topic around this? I don't think Tommy wanted his RIP thread to go in this direction so I'd prefer it if you moved it to an actual debate :D
Perhaps "Are decisions we make at 13 etc conscious?" or something like that IDK.
:P

Who said he didn't die of drugs?

I was stunned by the news of Montieth's death. In fact, I am still stun by it. Not that I was a huge watcher of Glee, but I had seen a few episodes of the series. I always thought he was quite a talented young man, with a promising career ahead of him. Its quite tragic to see that this career was cut short. Who knows what the future could of held for him, now we will never know.
