A 16-year-old Great Falls boy "showed no remorse at all" when he told police he mowed down a female jogger with his Dodge Ram Charger so he could have sex with her corpse.
Daniel Lee Robbins, 762 33rd B Ave. N.E., was charged Wednesday with attempted deliberate homicide.

Patty Emanuel, 40, is listed in fair condition in the Benefis East ICU 24 hours after being struck from behind and dragged about 25 feet while she was running near the C.M. Russell High School tennis courts about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Emanuel was chosen at random on the spur of the moment, Great Falls police officer Doug Mahlum said.

The impact caused numerous severe fractions and other injuries Mahlum characterized as life-threatening.

Robbins, a CMR sophomore, was arrested at his home immediately after the incident.

"He said it gave him a sense of power to do this to her," Mahlum said, adding that it was the coldest interview he'd ever done with a suspect.

The 6-foot-3, 295-pound Robbins was calm and expressionless as he appeared with his distraught parents at a detention hearing Wednesday afternoon at the courthouse in a white T-shirt, black jeans and the mandatory wrist and ankle chains. He was represented by Cascade County Public Defender Lawrence LaFountain.

Justice of the Peace Sam Harris ordered Robbins held in the Cascade County juvenile detention center. A hearing on whether he will be tried as an adult must be held within 60 days.

If tried as an adult, Robbins faces 10 to 100 years or life in prison and a $50,000 fine. If tried in Youth Court, he can be imprisoned until he turns 18, then put on probation until he turns 21.

Robbins has no criminal history, Deputy Cascade County Attorney Gina Bishop said.

According to Mahlum, Robbins was driving a 15-year-old male friend home in his '77 Dodge Ram Charger when he spotted Emanuel at about 1400 2nd St. N.W.

He made a sexual comment and told the boy he was going to hit and kill her, toss her in the back and have sex with "her dead corpse," but the boy did not believe him, Mahlum said.

I just think that's just sick. I mean, if tried as an adult, he'd get at least 10 years? What, they think someone that intentionally wanted to kill and woman to rape her dead body would change his ways in 10 years? And as a juvenile he'll be there for only 2 years (he's 16 now and he'd be out by 18) and then on probation til he's 21...as if he wouldn't try it again after he's 21!
 :banghead:

I seriously question this court system. I know that not all people that do bad things even rape and kill stay bad. They can change but I'd assume that most that do change their ways were doing what they did cause they didn't know any better. This guy seems to know what he did, even planned it out, anticipating the act, and as is proud of his actions claiming it made him feel powerful. I doubt there's much change in his future. ...but who knows

All I have to say is that is one messed up kid. I mean come on, who the hell wants to have sex with a dead person . . . that is just sick. Not to mention run said dead person over with a car to make them ded. how ****ed up is our society becoming

that is so sick

he needs to be locked up for a very long time, i can only hope he's tried as an adult. i'm sure if he is he'll get more than the 10 years, which is just a minimum

but he needs to be off the streets, or at the very least in medical care in a mental hospital

Perversions not withstanding (what you do behind closed doors is your own business - dead people and goats included), that's still sick. Sick, sick, sick.

Eww! What is this world coming to? It shows here that he must of come from a disfunctional family.
