Any one know where to get a Half height PCI video card, or a half hight AGP video card that supports dual monitors?
I'm trying to get two monitors hooked up to a new Dell Optiplex GX150. Boy is that thing small! Thanks
Well, there is no specification for the required height of the PCB on a video card, so saying that something needs to be "half height" is ambiguous at best.
Try looking at an ATI Xpert 128 or Xpert 2000 OEM. Those have trimmed down PCBs.
However, you should have taken into consideration that the Optiplex line isn't built for expansion. Even though they have expansion slots, they're meant to be left as-is in a corporate environment.

i know a guy who had a computer that was built to sit in a doctor's office, i think, with a simple record interface or something. it had a touchscreen and everything. anyway, the box itself was tiny so they devised and custom-built some 90-degree adapters for the slots so things would run parallel to the motherboard
probably not terribly helpful to you, but interesting nonetheless

Actually I think there is a close to being a standard for these cards. I have seen many generic "slim-line" cases that require the smaller cards. Dell actually calls them "low-profile" Here is an excerpt from the Dell website:
Expansion Slots
One low-profile 4XAGP slot (2.5" h x 6.6" l)
One low-profile PCI slot (2.5" h x 6.6" l)
I have seen them called both and have seen some cards built to these specs, just not PCI video cards.
As for taking it in to consideration, corporate asked us how fast, how much ram, anything else and we got these. I had no idea it would be so small.
Thanks,

Um, if you've bought a bunch for a company, then just call Dell, and order whatever available upgrade they have for it.
I'm sure corporate wouldn't be too happy to find out that they bought all of these machines, only to lose support on them by putting in unapproved video cards.

Actually I am part of IT and we support our PC's internally other than warranty issues. The purchasing department of IT is seperate, but we did contat Dell. They have an upgraded video card but its AGP, which disables the onboard AGP, so they are the one who told me to get a PCI card to support dual displays, but they dont sell them.
