Yeah, I'm 2 hours from NYC and people are going batty up here. The stores were mobbed yesterday. I'm hoping we don't get much more than high winds and heavy thunderstorms in my area.

I'm really shocked that NYC is closing down all public transportation that's unheard of!

In my area im not really boarding up or anything. Being a hill we dont really care but the lake next to us we pepare a bit, But not as if we are at the shore.

I live in western Massachusetts, and they say it's supposed to be pretty bad up here, but I don't think it will be much more than a really bad windy rainstorm. After all, the strength of the storm does discipate as it moves north.

Wouldn't be the first time A storm was totally overhyped. Remember just a couple years back we were supposed to get some massive hurricane and it turned out to be A mediocre rain storm

Yeah, that does happen around here a lot- some of the people here are acting like a category 4 hurricane is coming! Even though we're in the totally wrong location to get a real hurricane. We have been getting some pretty nasty rainstorms here this summer, so I think it will just be another one of those.

I live on the coast of Connecticut and with all the warnings of this Hurricane being a category 1 we were all prepared since we've been through two Hurricanes in my life time. Gloria and Bob. Both storms left us without power for a week. When Irene came closer to Connecticut it was down graded to a tropical storm. We did have high winds where I live from 60-70 miles an hour. Many people are without electricity still and thank goodness (knock on wood) in my section of town we didn't lose power. Only thing that we went a day without is internet.
