A newborn Kansas boy has become the first baby ever named after an Internet web site. Iuma Dylan-Lucas Thornhil was born Aug. 11, and was named by his parents after a web site
that makes available alternative rock music. The baby wins either $5,000 or free music for life from the Internet Underground Music Archive -- www.iuma.com -- which will award nine similar prizes to babies named after its web site through Nov. 1. The contest began Aug. 1. Iuma was
born to Travis and Jessica Thornhil of Hutchinson, Kan. He weighed 8 pounds, 22 ounces and measured 22 inches long. Web site officials say the baby will benefit from his new name. "A baby named 'Iuma' will grow up in a loving home filled to the brim with the best new music on the planet," said Antony Brydon, general manager of the web site, which he says is dedicated to saving "our children before their tastes are soured by bubblegum culture." The web site, which opened in 1993, features downloadable MP3s and sells compact discs.>>
