Just got college admission to study Psychology. What can I do with a degree in psychology?

I have always desperately wanted to study a course that is medically related. I applied to study medical lab science in a college. And the chosen course was said to be very competitive. And the available spaces are full. I was offered admission in Psychology instead.

So here I am asking what I can do with a degree in psychology. What are the prospects with the course? Would I end up being a "shrink" as they do rightly call it?

You can work as a psychiatrist, it is a lucrative field in the places where mental health is not a taboo and people do not shy away from taking consultation. You can also teach in university.

Psychologists don't actually have any jobs to do in my country. People prefer to talk to their pastors and religious leaders for their mental health issues.
