Lions and Tigers and Bears... WTH?!?!? :O

I heard about this on the radio this morning..............someone forgot to lockup. Oops.

no..... looks like the owner let them out and then killed himself

I heard this on the radio this morning and thought..... Glad they're not by Joan.

Got any big dunk tanks in case they make their way out here cookie?

My boys HS soccer coach is from zanesville--we hosted 2 HS boys in our home for a week last summer for soccer camp--they too are from zanesville-My DS text'd me this morning and said one of the boys posted a photo on FB this morning of a cheetah wandering around the local A & W..

-I spoke to the coach this morning via email--his parents still live there and I emailed him making sure his parents were safe..

this is what he replied..

My dad is at the McDonald's with my nieces right across from that AandW watching for animials like it is a zoo right this minute. Everyone is OK. Thanks for checking.

Well there's a sign I don't ever want to see on my travels. :surrender:

So sad that they killed over 40 of these animals because the owner decided to set them loose. :pout:

Thanks buddy! :giggles:

Saw this on TV this morning!! I am surprised they didn't work with the zoo/veterinarian/animal protection organization to capture and tranquilize them. Many of these animals are probably endangered species.

How boring. If he wanted to make a statement, he shoulda let the lions and bears eat him. :woot:

Yeah, I was not impressed about these poor animals being killed. I understand human safety is the priority, but very unimpressed by the loss of life for these animals!

BUT --Jack hanna from the columbus zoo is there helping--he too said that for the safety of others that they had to be killed ( okay that is not his exact words..but something like that)

I live right next to Lions, Tigers and Bears everyday of my life.......actually three houses away!

Well this was at night. The cops had to use night vision goggles to find them and shoot asap. Come morning, animals peeps came with tranquilizer guns but they couldn't wait for them to get ready to get into action. Sux but it's not like Ohio cops are trained for such a situation and it's not like there's round the clock animal specialists with tranq guns on call.

The story I heard was that the police didn't just happen to have animal tranquilizer guns with them as the story unfolded and they figured out what had happened .... so chose to shoot the animals rather than let them continue to run free and harm people.

Guess you can't tranquilize an animal at night.

The United State Humane Society Representative told Local 12 that after opening the gates to the animal pens, Thompson covered himself in chicken parts, apparently hoping the animals would eat him, and then shot himself. The animals were still feasting on the chicken when deputies arrived but officials say they immediately began killing animals when they first arrived on the scene because they thought the animals were attacking Thompson.

Agreed. They did what needed to be done. It is completely repulsive that these poor animals have to die.... And the mother ****er responsible for the situation got off so easy!

He put so many people in danger and these animals are now dead..... For what?!

I know. What can you do?. But, I'm sad and angry. Just sickening!

I don't understand why it isn't illegal to own exotic, dangerous animals in EVERY state. If it was, this mess wouldn't have happened.

Jack Hanna was called. He was on the news talking about how many animals they caught.
