That particular news article is slightly outdated already, the number of people injured was 8, with two fatalities.

:peep: My brother Aaron was in the building in which the shootings happened just ten minutes before. Both my twin brothers, Aaron & Michael, are safe, which I am very thankful for!

I don't yet know who the victims were, but at least I know that my brothers & Aaron's fiance, Karen, is safe.

A MAN armed with a number of handguns opened fire indiscriminately on a room of students at Monash University's Clayton campus today, killing two and injuring five people, police said.

Students leave Monash after the shooting.

The man, aged in his mid-30s, was tackled by several people after opening fire in a classroom at the Menzies Building, part of the campus in outer south-eastern Melbourne, about 11.20am (AEST).

Superintendent Trevor Parks said the man had been taken into police custody and was being questioned.

"He was in the possession of a number of handguns," Supt Parks said.

"He went into a classroom. It would appear there has been indiscriminate shooting following that."

He said two men in their early 20s were dead and five other people were in hospital.

"Apparently after the shooting incident, the gunman was tackled by other persons in the classroom itself and secured," Supt Parks said.

Police have provisionally ruled out the likelihood the incident was a terrorist attack.
