I have earned about $70 in two hours once. I sold like 6 ad units to one advertiser. A pretty popular advertiser as well! That is great too because it took me a year to earn that much from Adsense. After earning $70 in a day, I decided to strictly go for direct ad sales before Adsense and it has paid my expensive monthly dedicated server bill many times now. I can finally feel great about my websites paying for themselves!

I haven't earned anything from my forum, have paid the domain, hosting, software, and some content already though. I guess things start with paying or investing, then after a while it will bring some profit back.
