Motherboards for gaming?

What motherboard would you reccomend for people who want to game on their PCs? There's so much choice and I feel like most of the time you can get away with getting something reasonably average that is rated for gaming and be fine.

I'm not sure which ones are the go-to for gaming and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for which one (or few) are the best you'd reccomend?

It's difficult to say really as it will come down to what specific pros and cons interest you or put you off. MSI Tomahawk boards are really good and I run B550 myself which does what I need. It's not the best by any means but I feel as though it handles the performance of other components well. You've also got ASUS ROG boards that offer some really good performance as well which are worth looking into.
