I thought it would be easy to find one. I just need a desktop app that can be tucked away somewhere and when I need to add an appointment, it can be added quickly and easily from there without needing to open GC in a browser window.

I know they exist. Or at least they used to. The ones I have run into so far are either outdated or only give alerts for for when appointments are about to happen without the option to edit anything from the desktop.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried Thunderbird with the Lightening add-on? That's the only one I can think of aside from Outlook.

Alright, despite knowing that Thunderbird is mostly used for email management and whatnot, and going to have a lot of features I don't need, I downloaded it anyway to try out the calendar add-on.

Is there any way to hide it when minimized instead of having it constantly showing? I would love to just be able to pull it up from the notification area (like where you adjust your volume and lots of other programs minimize/'close' to for easy access while they're running)?

This is what Google came up with for me. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Minimize_to_system_tray_(Thunderbird)

I will give this a look. Seems interesting they do not have anything. If I get some time here maybe I could make one for this. What options would you like to see? Let me know and ill make a storyboard up and see about coding up something for the desktop

I could have sworn there was an AIR application around a few years back but Google didn't turn up anything.

Yeah, I know there used to be a bunch. Part of them simply died because Google closed their Google Desktop section.

I found one called Gminder that is super basic. As in, you can add events with a single line like "dinner at 7 on March 4" but you can't change any options for it and you can't edit or delete after you've added one. You have to go into Google calendar to do anything still really, so it's not that helpful. :( It's still closer than what I've been getting so far otherwise, though.
