Need suggestions for educational android apps for 3rd grader

Dh has his tablet set up with Amazon app store. Not sure if google play would work or not. Looking for fun but educational games. I'd love one that's quiz type on the states/capitals. He plays one called Stack the States at school, but it looks like that's not available for Android. Also one that teaches multiplication/division facts above 10's table. And any other good ones your kids like!
 
What kind of tablet?

What age for games - would that be 9 for a 3rd grader?

I have hundreds for Lex on the Kindle Fire, but Lex is 4, so I don't think that will help you.

And google play will work, but you have to sideload. You or DH able to do that?
 
It's one of the Uniden tablets Big Lots had before Christmas. It's Andriod ice cream sandwich. Ds is almost 9. I have no idea what you mean by sideload google play, but I'm sure my dh will.

What are some of Lex's favorites? They might be good for the girls, who just turned 6.
 
I tend to load whatever I think may be interesting and then check it out later

If I put an * beside the name Lex likes it, otherwise we haven't even tried it yet.
If I put a $ beside then it costs a little bit, otherwise free, however, watch for in-app sales. I have parental controls set on the Kindle so that a password has to be entered in order to purchase anything, whether in-app or from the Amazon appstore. Hopefully your tablet has something similar.

The "Where's my" are great for logic and reasoning/cause and effect. They start off really easy and then you have to really think to get past some of the levels

The "Where's my" are great for logic and reasoning/cause and effect. They start off really easy and then you have to really think to get past some of the levels

Wow! Thanks for the list. I'll have to check them out. Thanks! I can't set controls so that they need a password to download stuff. I just set up an account just for the kids. Their "payment method" is a $5 GC. They do have some paid apps on there, but this way they have to ask first.
 
Bump. Canadia had some awsome suggestions for my kindergarteners, but sill looking for suggestions for my 3rd grader.
 
My kids like studying for spelling using spellingcity.com you have to add their words online but they have an app for the the kids to practice on.
 
Today's freebie looks like it is aimed at kids. I downloaded it, but I haven't had a chance to check it out.
