What is the next movie you are trying to see? Is it a comedy that is currently out, or a movie you saw due to be aired here in the next few weeks?

Second Job

Anyone have a second job? I just applied for one at a major theme park as an EMT. It's just a side job to my work in the Air Force but it should bring in some extra bacon.

Yep, I work a second job on most nights and weekends. I actually take care of an elderly family friend who lives by herself and is unable to do a lot of things. Some of my responsibilities are cooking, cleaning, laundry, paying bills, yard work and running errands. It's not a permanent job, but for now it's a win-win for both of us.

I shall find out tomorrow if I was hired or not

Kinda nervous but I guess I shouldn't be. Even if I don't get it....I still have a job. I'm not really depending on it or anything.

I do now. Since moving out I am able to work for my mum as a carer for my stepdad. I get any holiday covers that I can do plus shift work at weekends. ?10 an hour, OH YEA!!

I'm trying to get one at a civilian ER as a ER Tech right now. I suppose we'll see how it goes. I would like a job for when I leave the USAF next year :-/

What is your view of jobs being taken by older people past retirement age?
I think it blocks an opportunity for young people to get a foot on the ladder.
I know a woman who is almost 4 years past her retirement date. She says that what she earns after tax is a pittance yet she stays on because her job allows her to' meet people' She and her husband are well off so her wage is not essential.
There are many volunteer jobs that give the opportunity to 'meet people' and her job could be taken by someone with a family who need an income.

To me, if someone is retired and doesn't need to work I think it's unfair. If money is meaningless then why not get a volunteer job, like you said, Frog. That way it frees it up for someone who really needs the money. I have heard of a few retired people that have to go back to work and that's understandable.
