HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The parents of a 2-year-old girl paralyzed in an accident caused by a drunken football fan have sued the National Football League.

Ronald and Fazila Verni claim the NFL promotes the kind of behavior that led the fan to drink 14 beers at a New York Giants game and then drive home. (Discuss This Case)

The New Jersey residents first filed their suit in 2001, but refiled Thursday to include the NFL and its commissioner as defendants. The Giants, the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, and the fan are among the other defendants. He's been sentenced to five years in prison.

A lawyer for the Giants told The Record of Bergen County that it's a tragic incident, but the team and sports authority aren't to blame.

Why not sue the television stations for making the football player rich or the electric company for making it possible to watch TV. What ever happened to PERSONAL responsibility?

how about the beer company?

or maybe the guy who designed the stadium

or the cup the beer was in

or maybe whoever invented football
