I have mixed fealings. I mean there are a lot of accidents from cell phones, however drinking your morning coffee is probably almost as dangerous, or eating a burger. So my question is whats next. Anyway Like I said I have mixed feelings, I am normaly in favor of anything that will save lives, but I am not too sure about this one. Ill have to continue to contimplate it.

not too long ago I would agree, but I've found recently that I need to use the phone while driving. I can't live without it now, but that's technology for ya.

I think it's a good thing. I'm even guilty of it myself. I like using the phone while driving but I know it's a bad thing and it causes distraction while driving and even worse...an accident. however, I so hope they start back with car phones that are voice activated. They used to have things like that. My father had one. It was a speaker and a microphone attached somewhere in the car...the sun shade maybe? Dunno but it was attached to the phone in the car center-piece. THAT I thought was a good idea. The only thing was it wasn't voice activated. That would solve alot of distraction problems I think.

The other thing is when people start fights on the car phone whether they start it or the person on the other end. That also is a distraction. I've seen it happen and it's like the person completely forgets that he/she is in the car driving and starts swirving. If anyone starts an arguement the phone needs to be hung up! But that's my opinion.

I have mixed feelings, too. I am very careful when I use it, which isn't often- But overall, it prevents people from accidents. As for eating, the funniest (and scariest) thing I've seen was a guy driving one of those "If you don't like the way I drive, call 1-800..." vans. He went right through a yield sign and as I glanced over at him, he was eating an egg McMuffin!

Most of the burbs in the North-East Ohio area have had cell-phone bans in effect for a number of years. The city of Brooklyn, Ohio was the first one that I can recall to have passed such a ban. Many other cities followed suit. I'm hoping that more states will pass such a ban, including Ohio.

The odd thing is, they've passed a bill that is not needed. They already have laws on the books against doing anything distractive while driving. This would cover all actions such as eating while driving or using a hand-based cell-phone.

This is a case of government growing bloated, and not enforcing the laws that already exist. In most cases, we do not need more laws, just enforcement of the current laws!
