NYPD Can Shoot Down An Airliner

Since when do they rocket launchers and anti-aircraft guns? As to the authority, obviously they'd have to ask for it or be given it beforehand. I just don't get what they're planning on shooting it down with. Maybe they should focus on the criminals and terrorists walking around on the ground, in trains, on buses, and in cars first.

There's also the question if NYC is ever attacked by airliner again. If they had seen the planes coming, would they've suspected a terror attack and would they have shot them down, killing hundreds of people in the process?

It amazed me. A couple weeks ago 60 minutes had on an interview with Ray Kelly (NYPD Commisioner) the fact that NYPD can take down a plane didn't really surprise me. After 9/11, if I were in his shoes I'd want that capability too.

What did amaze me is the uniformed force is larger than the FBI. Think about that you have the NYPD patroling a city, the FBI is nationwide!

Another thing that was surprised me, Ray Kelly is in his 70s. I pegged him at mid 50s he looks **** good for his age.
