? on hurt ankle

It appears that I developed an axiety disorder within the last few years (axiety attacks suck). My doc thinks I have GAD so I've been on a generic Zoloft for a year now. Apparently he wants to see me again now before he'll renew the script.

I was referring to the OTHER problem. :tap:

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer but I'm an RN and worked in an ortho office for 10 years and I have to say that most fractures are treated in a non weight bearing cast. Not very often that I put on walking casts or boots. So just don't get upset and freak out and demand a walking cast. Take the ortho's recommendation not your desire even though I can understand your frustration with the crutches, etc.

I appreciate your honesty! This is a chip fracture--so I am hoping that he will say just take it easy---though the nurse at cc said to explain I am an active volunteer and my job requires walking--and I have a first grader. That maybe that will qualify me for a boot--if I promise to rest it at night.
I can hope
Right now it hurts--my dh says it is because the swelling is probably going down--which is good.
Thanks again for your advice

Thanks babe.

Charlie is talking about another issue. A few years ago I had a mild blood clot in my leg........no medical stuff was needed (not a deep vein one). Then last year I had a physical which a blood test showed that I had a clot somewhere. So I had both of my legs and my chest ultrasound which were all negative and I stopped wanting tests. AFTER insurance I still had to pay over $1k for worthless tests.
So the peeps here were on me to keep going back for more tests.....ugh.

it's because some of us have family members or loved ones who have suffered mightily because of stroke and blood clots. There's a reason you developed blood clots at your age and IMO you should figure out the reason is so you don't have a stroke at 40, and end up unable to speak, use the bathroom, or feed yourself. It could be genetic, it could be something else, but whatever it is it can be treated if you're monitored. I know it's tough to hear but think of your boys and stop using the money as an excuse -- it's even tougher to watch someone you love suffer.

:huggy:

Mrs. Mom GO TO THE DR. and get your zoloft refilled! Do I have to come up their and drag you by the ear?:tap:

Kathy, I'm sorry to hear about the ankle but glad you went and had it checked out!

BTW, I hate tests and docs and really don't want to go to the GI doc that I have a referral for but am going anyway on Jun 8th.

Ok KG but what else are they gonna check? :surrender:

:huggy: I don't know. I'm not a doctor; I don't have the knowledge or the experience to know what direction to go. But I do know if it was me, I would want to know what caused it and how to prevent it in the future and I'd pretend to be brave and take the tests the doc recommends. I know it's not easy. I have a really tough time making dentist appointments, so I can understand the anxiety. Maybe when you go to your appointment for the Zoloft refill you can mention it then.

Come on, I told you about my recent appointment, where they stuck that thing up my %^$#. That sucked, but I went and now I'm super relieved to know I'm fine. It's your turn :foryou:

Sorry to hear about your ankle, Kathy! If the doc says you HAVE to be non-weight bearing for a while, and the crutches are difficult to manage, see if your insurance will allow you to rent a Roll-A-Bout Knee Walker. (here's a link to the product info: https://www.rentakneewalker.com/ite...=roll-a-bout&gclid=CNnS7vqWjrACFQcEnQodeSJKpw ) It's not that easy to use, in that it doesn't turn corners well, but at least with this, you could be standing and working. My friend used it for a while after she had ankle surgery, and it was lifesaver for her, since she couldn't use crutches well either.

That's a great idea, and looks fun, too :)

Thanks babe.

I know the money thing stinks. Ihave to agree with everyone else--please keep investigating. A neighbor who is only 30 had a blood clot in his leg--they thought it was fine---then months later he was rushed to the hospital--it had spread to his heart--they were lucky he got there in time--
he went home--and again, months later something similar happened
they are doing lots of tests and monitoring him--
Imagine if he had not gone to the doctor
I am unhappy because I have to call off on crossing guard on Monday --I will lose out on Friday afternoon pay and Monday pay--which is a huge amount for us--and if I can't get a walking boot--then I will be out the rest of the year--which also is a HUGE loss of income--
I just found out that my insurance though a PPO--gives me a discount fee if I go to a doctor in the system--then it is only a 25 co pay for doctor visits--BUT_-they do not have any ortho docs in the system--
How silly--our insurance is through a hospital-we should have the best insurance out there--SO now--this stupid stuff is going to cost me a lot more
I am thinking I am to learn a lesson on money (I was saving checks so we could afford to go to a wedding in WI that my dd is in--it will be expensive as we have to rent a car--and then the hotel stay--my first grader is also ring bearer)
I think I am being told to rely on HIM--as HE knows all my worries
So--my advice to you--PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE investigate a little more. Sounds like so many other people on this board care for you and know more details of your life--and all of them have said for you to keep investigating because they love you---with having smaller children (as does my friend--3 3 little boys) I will hope you get it checked out.
We need you here on CW_-your children need you--so time to make another appointment. IF all the tests come back negative again, then at least you have comfort you did all you could do---but remember there is always the WHAT IF---so if you don't---you will never have the peace of mind
Please keep us posted--and I pray you do go have it checked out

I have seen these--and might mention it so I can at least walk or scoot around the house
I don't think I could do my job--since I am a crossing guard--I think parents would rather have someone they guarantee will make it out there before their child decides to bolt (my kids are really good about it--most have been trained to wait--and I have safety patrols--HOWEVER---you have to expect the unexpected--for a child that might come without a parent--or the rare child that never crosses and doesn't know the rules)

Alright Kathy, here's the plan to help you financially. Hobble to work on Monday. While you are stopping traffic have somebody drive over your foot. You have now been injured on the job and your employer is now responsible for your medical expenses. Then while you are off you'll be able to receive at least part of your pay and then (in a couple of years) you'll be able to receive a settlement from them. :9:

Too funny---
I really LOVE LOVE LOVE my job. I love seeing the kids every day--I love seeing the parents---I like talking with the school etc.
I was there Friday, even though I had to call for a replacement---my replacement laughed that I was there--he said when he got the call to sub--the person said This person NEVER calls in--so it must be something big.
Reminds me--I have to call in for tomorrow--should do it now--so they can get the same nice guy---
I am hoping that I will be back on Tuesday--with a nice walking cast--or with nothing and told just take care of it--
Right now it is all sorts of pretty colors (from when dh rewrapped the bandage)

Yippee!!

Bye bye crutches!
I was pretty insistent that I have a first grader and I love to walk-etc
He said it is just a chip fracture--and we still need to do exercises and treat it tenderly-but I can walk on it without crutches. He gave me a sprain ankle soft thing-that goes around my foot and I can wear my own shoe. Said I could do PT or do home exercises--he thinks I am a motivated person so he recommended the home exercises with this band thing.
Still to stay off it--but I can walk around the block etc--no miles like I do--and I can't do stairs for 3 weeks (we have a ranch home--but I was going to start running the Monroe bridge stairs to get firm and trim for swim suit weather)
So--I am happy---he said he could have done the boot--but this would be easier to use for walking--i said give me easy--please!!!
So--if it is still swollen--or anything--I might have to go back--
I asked dd if she would still pamper me--get me things for dinner, and let me rest--she said NO WAY_-you just got cleared--you can do things for yourself now
So--bummed my sympathy is gone (dh said he would do it though-he is so wonderful--but I will admit--I am spoiled it is not out of the ordinary for him to do laundry, dishes, make food, vacuum clean etc)
