You know those 3-5 pop up ads that keep coming along every few pages one surfs? How do I put a stop to that? Makes me wish that those adservers would crash and get currupted boot sectors...

Couple of ways you can stop the "whack-a-mole" effect.

1) Disable scripting in your browser. This can cause some legitimate sites to not work, however.

2) Close the windows before the code can be loaded. I find this works best if using the keyboard shortcut to close a window (Alt-F4).
Just keep hitting the key combo as soon as a window opens, and it should prevent them from spawning new windows.

3) Get a software program from one of the file archives like Download.com that prevents such behavior.

Use a browser such as Opera which can be configured to refuse (or accept) pop-up windows, or open them in the background. I've been using Opera exclusively for a while now. I use its multiple window mode, but with "pages". It's rather slick and speedy.
