"On Wednesday morning, an official with Taiwan's Civil Aviation Administration put the number of fatalities at 70 and injuries at 68"
"Singapore Airlines had previously enjoyed a nearly unblemished safety record throughout its 28-year history. Its only other fatal accident was a 1997 crash in Indonesia of a plane operated by its subsidiary, SilkAir, which killed 104 passengers and crew members. "
*sigh* this f'ing sucks.. Singapore Airlines has had the best safety record in the whole **** world. I'm also freaked cuz this is the exact same flt i fly from Taiwan to LA. I fly over every year around X'mas to see family and stuff.. *sigh*
lots of maybe's getting around.. since there was a typhoon around (similar to hurricane) maybe a down draft pushed the plane back on the ground, maybe the chaotic wind patterns compelety took left away under the wings.. the flt crew said they hit something.. i'm not sure if that was during takeoff or after they hit the ground again..
As usual, up to date material can be found on cnn.com
(my mom just called me and told me what the taiwanese clone of CNN is saying which is basically what's up on cnn.com)
