Playstation 2 and DVD

Being a lover of Digital-anything, I of course have been using DVD's since they came out, at which time I bought a Toshiba. Eventually, I yanked my Toshiba in favor of my PS2, which seems to have slightly better performance. Anyone else out there have anything to say about the PS2 and it's DVD capabilities??
