Political Correctness

Want to know what really grinds my gears?

Political Correctness!

I am able to respect other peoples views and opinions and their religions. So why the **** can't they respect mine?

Especially when they come into OUR country and try to change our rules and laws and traditions. I'm sorry but if we did that to their country, I'm sure riots would break out.

I'm not pointing this in any one direction but I just figured I would share :P

What are you opinions and thoughts on Political Correctness?

I agree with you, and its this goes on a non-professional level as well, in daily lives, people judge other about what they think, and that can be said about almost anything. Respect is rare these days.

You also have to be open minded in some ways. What you may think is someone not respecting your view may very well be someone trying to learn more about your view. Or even to debate your view with theirs. That is not disrespectful. In reality it was how the founders intended this country to be. That is what our government lack a way to debate the views and then let the people decide.
I don't agree with political correctness. If a Black man calls me a Cracker I believe that is his right. Though in the same token if I call him something such as the N word then that would be my right. Now please do not take that the wrong way it is a example. There are to many thing that are regulated in this country speech is one of them.

Yes, you have a very good point here. Even with the freedom of speech point.

Another one would be when I would say Merry Christmas. Now your suppose to say happy holidays. Don't get me wrong, thats all fine. But I remember you use to be able to go to the stores and say it freely. And if they are into something else they would say happy hanukkah or w.e it was they believe in. Everyone was still in the holiday spirit and jsut went their own ways and had no concerns. Now you can't even do that. Same with Easter now. Remember those Easter hunts you use to go on when you where a kid? Now they have to start calling them spring hunts. Wow does that sound ever weird to even say. Point is, that was our tradition and now we cant even follow up on it.

I agree with you Jordan, it is somewhat ridiculous that its seen as "wrong" to say Merry Christmas to someone, just seems....idk

The holidays moved away from being a time with family as I got older and became more about money. Stores use to stay closed Thanksgiving now they are opened for a pre Black-Friday sale. Oh wait is Black Friday politically correct.

That is true Chris, personally when I have kids I will be teaching them the correct ways of the holidays, it bothers me so much its all about money nowadays.

it is still not about money for me. I will glady spend lots of my money to give away gifts to others. I'm just a generous person I guess :(

It is hard now-a-days to teach kids to respect certain things. A big reason we got rid of TV was because it stopped feeding our kids crap they did not need to learn or know. Though one can only do so much because your child's friends play a lot in their development.

Well have you seen this generation of kids? Talk about monsters!

Well thats good, at least we know there are good people like you in this world. Though when it comes to holdays my gf and i will not be basing it around money :P

Yeah I will agree with you their. My kids have their moments. Though I put them down a peg or two when needed.

It is not about money but rather giving and the joy of giving to people.

yea I'm not saying its about money, but kids these days get that impression, they think they're entitled to gifts

All parents need to do this. And the only kid ones that get everything they want and **** at their parents every day need a good old fashion slap

Oh my kids can't stand me or their Step-mom. We give them chores and make them redo it if they do it wrong. They get school work during summer break.

I grew up not getting presents every holiday or birthday, so I understand the value. I will be teaching my kids this lol

Oh I would have hated you too LOL

Lol same here, though my parents never pushed me like that, but I'm still a good kid :)
