ROME/LONDON (Reuters) - A 63-year-old British hospital consultant is set to become one of the world's oldest mothers after undergoing fertility treatment, the Italian doctor who treated her said Thursday.

Patricia Rashbrook, a child psychologist from Lewes, East Sussex, was given in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment last October, Severino Antinori told Reuters.

Antinori, who said he was "excited and proud" about the treatment, gained notoriety in the early 1990s when he helped a 62-year-old Italian woman give birth following fertility treatment with a donated egg.

For the love of god, why would a woman want to carry a baby at the age of 63? 1) Your at the age where you don't have the patience to take care of an infant 24/7. 2)These are the times of your life where you should be enjoying your retirement. Travel and see the world. Not taking care of a baby.

Jeeezeee some people don't have any brains. :ut-oh:
 
How can a woman's body at 63 years old even handle carrying around a child for 9 months?! And why would she want to be taking care of a little baby at that age? Once that child she's going to have turns 2 years old and starts running all over the place, she will be 65, and not, by any means, have the energy to keep up with the kid.
I just don't understand, why would a woman want to do this at 63??
 
Because she has no brains panache. Did she do this just to get into the worlds record?

When this child is growing up will she have the energy to play baseball, or play outdoor games or be able to handle the loud noise children make? What when this child gets older and has friends over or birthday partys do you think they are just going to sit in a chair and not make any noise?

In my opinion this child will miss out so much on his/her life while growing up. I really feel sorry for this child.
 
Isn't the woman a psychologist? She should know better than to do this to a child. :mad:
Will she even live long enough to raise the child to adulthood?
There must be more to this story. Maybe she's having the baby for someone else?
Whatever the reason/purpose, in my opinion, this was a bad idea.
