WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Senate counted down on Tuesday toward a vote Republicans predicted would undo an 11th-hour Clinton administration rule to curb worker repetitive strain injuries that business loathes.
The partisan showdown, an extension of a bitter battle over workplace safety between labor and business groups, began with 10 hours of debate under a never-before-used procedure and was expected to end late on Tuesday in a straight up-or-down vote.
Senate Republican leaders said they had enough votes to repeal the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) ergonomics standard and move the battle to the House, which was expected to take up the matter on Wednesday.
