What are your thoughts on robots in the future and how they pose a risk to human life? It's no surprise that robots are taking jobs away from humans as we are able to create programs to automate so many things in life.
It's cool that technology is advancing so much but also a shame that people like in shops are losing jobs because what they used to do can now be completely automated so they no longer need to work. Do you think robots will ruin the future?
This is a tough one actually. I think mundane jobs like cashiers are actually better served to be automated. How often does a rude customer come up and blame the cashier for whatever might have gone wrong in the store? I was a cashier a long time ago for a major retail chain and it was all around just a terrible experience.
On the other hand, it does take away those low/entry level jobs that people with little or no skills could be doing to earn a paycheck. An argument could be made that it would force those people to learn a skill, but then what if they don't have the resources to do so? Trade schools, while cheaper, still cost money. If they are trying to support themselves without help from friends or family, where do they go to find the income?
I watched a podcast on the future of AI recently and found it fascinating how clever technology, robots and AI really can be.
I think there needs to be a boundary for how far we let robots into our jobs and daily life. If we let robots do too many of the jobs we do then I think there is more of a risk to the future.
