Have any of you ever participated in an RPG that was done message board style? I've administrated a few Dream Family RPs and well as a boarding school one. In the DF ones, the player would create families (different forum account for each family) to live in a fictional town and just play the characters and interact with others as if they were that person or group of people.

Not a easy type of site to get going. But once you have it going, it will do very well.

I chose not to move forward with Osprey Ridge after it died. I'm currently designing another and it's in the very early stages. It doesn't have a name or anything yet, but I'm looking for ways to make the RP more unique and enticing. Hopefully, i can learn from past mistakes. The first dream family RP I owned was huge and very active, but I think the concept got old after awhile.

I would talk with Tril about it. Maybe he could help out with a few ideas and so on.

I used to. But I found that after a while, I fell into writers block which caused the whole thing to grind to a halt, which punished the other players as well. So I no longer bother.

I think I'd get writers block too often. Besides, I don't even have the motivation to write my own creative stuff now which is sitting in my head.

Maybe I'd get involved in a little one, but not a whole forum completely dedicated to it.

Forum Based RP's are fun and easy when you know what you're doing, a lot of the stuff I do in RP's I usually just make up off the top of my head and I improv as I go. Some people plan their characters ahead of time, however I like to be a bit more spontaneous. The only problem with spontaneity is quickly coming up with a character backstory, That's really the only hard part.

I'd love to help you with your new project if you'd like though :)

Put a few good admins together and a good team behind them, and you will have a pretty good site.
