The green reusable shopping bag didn't look too out of the ordinary, sitting on a foldable table in the foyer of Gospel Presbyterian Church in Schaumburg.
A member of the church had found it on the trunk of his car after leaving Sunday services. He saw a teddy bear inside and, thinking someone had just misplaced it, the man brought the bag inside and left it, hoping its owner would claim it.
And there it sat for at least 30 minutes, said Bob Song, a church elder, until someone heard faint murmurs coming from the bag. Song looked inside and removed the stuffed animal. He saw a bundled orange bath towel and unwrapped it.
"It was a baby," said Song, who immediately called authorities.
