Seat belt saves?

Do you think seat belts in cars and heavy vehicles saves live when met with an accident.

I think it does in both way, saves & protects us from getting more injured or fatality. Or act like a life hook which prevents you from getting out soon.

Well yes it does save people because they were built to save people. Although I doubt it would do much if it was a proper serious accident

Yes it saves many life, it surely has a purpose and in very rare cases it turns out to be the villain.

Frankly, I cannot understand why I must wear a seat belt in my car, while a motorcycle rider can get away with not wearing a helmet. Just the principle of it, not discussing the merits.
