The subject matter is...different...but it does shed some light into some other topics. As the article states:
Thought-provoking, to say the least. People actually sit around and think stuff like this up; then they put it into a book, lecture on it, and make lots of cash. When you look at it that way, there really is no reason why I can't do the same - only maybe pick a topic or two that's a bit more deserving of peoples' attention.

It's easy to say that becoming more than friendly with man's best friend is wrong. What's hard is backing up that statement with a principle, and reconciling that principle with your beliefs about meat-eating, sexual orientation, or, in Singer's case, pedophilia.
