Should a person who is suffering from a terminal illness be able to end their life?

People do this all the time if they are suffering from a terminal illness and in lot's of pain with no cure. People should be able to do what they want even though it would be sad to see them go. I would say though that they would have to try and get better first, trying all sorts of medication and if that doesn't work, then they can end their life if they choose to.

I believe so yes, It is their life and if they feel that they don't want to live anymore due to the pain etc then they should have the option to end their own life.

I would have to agree with the others on this matter. I say if you are mentally sane and you understand the gravity of the situation then I think you should be allowed to have the say of when you should end your life. Currently the states that allow assisted suicide are Washington, Oregon, Vermont, and New Mexico.

Yeah i think if there is nothing else then it is their choice, with the drugs today to help someone with the pain, that can only last for so long

We put animals down when they are in pain, humans should also be afforded the same dignity imo

That is a good point. How many animals would decide they want to end their life when they are in pain? They don't have that choice and humans end animals lives all the time when the animal is in pain. If animals can do it, so can humans.

There is nothing more distressing than seeing a loved one in pain especially when there is nothing else to be done for them :(

I remember when i was 15 watching my father die, the longer it took the worse it was for him and everyone.
