DS9 put this on his Christmas list...............had no idea what this is until I saw it at Best Buy yesterday. Ok so we have a Wii and they're getting a PS3 for Christmas...........should I get this Skylanders for Wii or PS3? Does it matter?

Signed,
I don't know nuttin' about video games. :9:

Doesn't matter. Make sure you get a starter pack and not the game alone. You have to get these figures and scan them into the game in order to play it. It can be a lot like Pokemon, where you feel compelled to get all the figures.

We have not purchased it or mentioned it around the house. My 7 yr old would go nuts for it and want all the figures.

Figures?!!! Oh ****..............my 9 yo LOVES lil figures............has Pokemon and Sonic **** all over..............sigh.:surrender: I thought this was just a game...............ugh. Oh well..........in a couple years he won't want toys anymore and I'll be :pout:.

ETA: He also wants a magic 8 ball lol

I got it for my boys who are 8 and 10. I only have the Wii so that is what I bought it for. My friends son has the Wii and Xbox 360 and she was told to get it for the Wii because it is better so that is what she bought??? :9: Other then that I have no idea.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I still need to go out and find a new Mario figurine because the boy asked Santa for it.

Hopefully you can get by with a few of the figures for right now. There are some that are TRU exclusive and one that is Target exclusive.

I bought this for my 9 year old for the WII and i know he will be thrilled. I saw the demo in best buy and it looks really cool. The starter pack was on sale at Toys R Us for $70 with a $20 gift card earlier in the week .( Not sure if it is still going on). The starter pack has the game, 3 figures plus the stand for the figures,so i think this is a good deal with the gift card. It averaged about $60 ever where else. The kids pick their figure, put it in the stand and then they are part of the game. They also had an pack of 3 figures for $15. HTH

I swear we live the same life! I got the Wii version since my 9 year old has it on his list....bought some extra figures for the other boys so they all can play.

I try and balance the games out. We have more than one system, so I try not to buy all the new games for the same one. So then one can play on the wii and someone else on the PS3, you get the drift.

I'm thinking the PS3 will be more for DS12 and DH since DS9 loves the Wii...........we'll have to figure out which one stays in the basement and which one comes up to the livingroom.

We were gonna get it for Billy but gremlin said she wanted to get it for him.

So, she got thd starter pack and an additional 3 pack and we got him an additional 3 pack.... So he has 9 figures to start it off with.

Here's a question.... I think you morph the figures into the game.... Once you morph them in, do you still need to HAVE the figures to play the game???

If not.... I could share Billy's figures with you guys. You can use his figures to morph into your games.

We have Wii.

Will that work?

The figures actually have computer chips in them that store all your characters information (my son keeps talking about their soul gems) and then they can take and play those characters cross systems at other friends houses.

One character my son really wants is only offered in the DS game pack. Didn't realize this until we had already bought the WII game pack so now I either buy another game pack for DS or the character on eBay. I'm hoping that they release this character in the future as a stand alone purchase.

Also, I think there are some characters they have yet to come out with.

My son is 6 and LOVES this game... he is actually playing it right now. He "beat" the game in about a month of mild playing but now he's enjoying leveling up all the characters he has... as we won't talk about how many characters he has... sigh... At least I feel better about buying these characters because they actually interact with the game instead of a spiderman figure they play with for 10 minutes and then they never pick it up again.

Also, you want to make sure you have a good supply of characters... if you "die" in the game and want to keep playing where you "died" (instead of going back to the start) you either have to switch characters or wait 30 minutes to continue as your character... see there is always a hook isn't there?
