OK, this is somewhat of an embarrassing story, but I hope you all like me enough by now that you won't think less of me for it...
My boss (at the place that went outa business, hah) told this marketing intern we had to find every online coupons/deals site she could and post $10 off $20 coupon codes. About a month later the intern left to go back to school, and my boss gave me the list of sites she had posted to, and said "OK, go post on all these sites again for me" Sigh. What fun. OK.
I get to the Soup and am thinking "What the hell is this, this doesn't look like the other ones" but register, make my stupid post, and move on.
About a week later, my boss says "OK, go post those coupon codes again." I said "What are you nuts? If I post again so soon people are going to accuse me of spam and they'll boycott the site! That would be totally counterproductive." He said "Hmmm that's weird, don't these people want deals?" I said "Yeah but not the same ones over and over...trust me I've been online for a really long time, I know how the online community works." He said OK and that was that. Told me to post again maybe in a month.
Meanwhile I thought these coupon sites were pretty cool since I shopped online a lot. I figured I should start posting other codes on them to be a "good neighbor" since I would be using codes others posted. Pretty much I just came to the Soup and a few others, and on the Soup I never left the Hot Deals forum.
When my company lost funding, I didn't have much to do at work. I'd go ask my boss for stuff to do, and he really didn't have anything for me. So I'd spend all day online, bored, and when I was on the Soup I decided to poke around a little more and discovered the other forums. Soon I started posting like crazy, and now I'm an addict.
Are you sorry you asked yet?
