so what are you thinking right now?

Thanks babe. DH spent a few years getting our old lawn looking good. Our new home's lawn sucks. We've started stuff but it will take a good 3-4 years to get it what we like.

I'm sorry to hear your sis is ill. I didn't know; I guess I missed her diagnosis if you've posted it here on CW. Prayers and wishes for the best for you both :huggy:

Thank you. I think I posted, can't remember my brain is mush. My sis had a bad cough and went to doc, he sent her to the ER. They found stage 4 cancer in her liver and lungs. They said she probably won't make it until Christmas. She just had 2nd round of chemo and they added 2 really strong drugs to this mix. She was too weak last time because she had surgery to put port in chest for chemo and tube in lungs so we could drain them. She has looked pretty good for about a week now, I pray it stays that way. She coughs so bad and so much she can barely talk a lot of the time. I pray God gives her more time so we can take her on a trip. She hasn't had a life of all sunshine and roses so....we would like to take her to do some things she would like to do but never had the opportunity to. :pout:

ah mrsmom--we loved our first house too--perfect lawn--had perennials coming in at all the right times to keep color coming --I had 2 babies at that house ( had 2 when we moved it) great block great friends-- *sigh* then we move to bigger house and have lived here 9 years and lawn/plants still stink--lol--as the kids get older there is less time to spend in the yard working on it
we loved our old porch--wish our block had not changed so much and my **** neighbors never moved in..we might just still be there..

I don't have words, only :huggy:

mrsmom -- it was a cute house! And you do still own it, so if you wanted, theoretically, you could move back. There are reasons you don't ;) I do kinda understand the whole sentimental part though. I had about 30 seconds of being sentimental the night before we closed (selling) our old house; it had been our home for a long time. Then I reminded myself all the reasons we were moving and I was :bliss: We updated and remodeled a lot of stuff in that house, but still didn't have enough time or money in ten years to fix everything, and some things are just unfixable. Landscaping was one of the last things on the list and it showed... :surrender:

So I made a mental list of all the things that are now somebody else's problem in the old house, and I think of that list if I get an ounce of sentimental (hasn't happened yet!): landscaping, the yippy dog next door, the drafty old windows and door, the electric dryer, how cold it was in the winter to have the family room on a concrete slab, loud furnace right next to the family room, no basement, little closet space and no lights in the closets we did have, the house next door that was foreclosed twice in the last 5 years and was vacant almost half the time we lived there and the other half the time it had 5-7 different groups of occupants, etc, etc....

THANK YOU BTW to you and crdnlsfan for moving and putting the idea in my head. We close on the new place next week!! :bliss:

Mary, please ignore my dh. He is trying to make fun of me to get back at me for posting a couple of his stupidisms. I just called a couple numbers on my moms phone bill because there were a lot of extra charges and wanted to know if it was goofy brother calling crazy **** gf. My sister answered and I said, "wrong number" in my best chinese accent because I didn't want to talk to her and hung up. No big deal. Nobody got hurt.

Remind me to tell you guys about the Arby's drive thru in Michigan. He reminded me of that one lastnight. :snicker:

LOL, Nanny... you guys are a funny couple... you crack me up

I'm so sorry to see the news about your sister... I didn't realize how little time they think she has :huggy:

It's been a while since I mentioned a wonderful organization called TOY BOX CONNECTION CHILDREN'S NON-PROFIT... I should go bump the original thread, but for now, I thought I'd post here.

They collect new and gently used donated toys and redistribute them to non profit organizations where they are given directly to children. "Our primary goal is to touch the life of a child through the gift of a toy." This is their goal and they do an INCREDIBLE job ♥♥♥. If you are thinking of making room for some up and coming Santa toys at your house and have any you would like to donate to a wonderful cause, I'd be happy to collect and deliver them to Toy Box Connection .

I'll be in Niles tomorrow night, Saturday, November 3rd, at a hockey game... I know it's short notice, but if anyone has something they want to get rid of to a great cause, I'd be happy to accept and deliver it for you.

OR if you wanna watch some great high school hockey, come on out and watch the game with us!!! :bliss: :bliss: :bliss:

Ohhh he is funny. I get laughs all the time. He is in the other room trying to cancel one of my dad's credit cards and pretending to be my dad. He is talking slow and confused. Oops, my birthday, I forget that sometimes..me and Ricky are laughing while he throws me hand signals for the personal info they are asking for. He was like...use the internet, whats that? lol! He is a spaz.

We are praying the doc's are soooo wrong. It was devastating to hear that. It's has been a really tough couple of years. We are just hoping that they can get the cancer into remission. I feel so sorry for my mom. This is so stressful on her. She keeps grabbing my sis and kissing and hugging her and starts crying. My sister keeps saying, do you see what she is doing? I said Donna, what do you expect a mother to feel? Our kids will aways be our kids and in our hearts at any age. She doesn't want to think about burying another one of her kids.:pout:

OK, so last night's hockey game............
our team was expected to lost BIG time .... the other team is really really good.
Well, after 2 periods, it was 0 to 0 :faint:
They had way way way wayyyyyyyyy more shots on goal and we were crazy busy defensing, not too many chances for us to get any shots off.
Beginning of the 3rd period, the other team scores and then scores again :gah:
Then we score , so it's 2 - 1
Then MY wonderful super hockey talented :huggy: baby boy SCORES to tie it up :bliss: :yahoo: :bliss: it was a BEAUT! Backhanded, from about 30 feet away.... oh MY!
so regular game time ends in a tie and they go to sudden death 4 minute over time! Again, we are spending almost the WHOLE time on defense :gah:
Last few seconds, madddddd scrambling, the other team scores with 1.7 seconds left on the clock!!!!!!
:faint: :gah: :cry1: :37: :gah: :cry1: :37: :gah: :hb:

sighhhhhhhhhhhhh

So anyway, our team was thrilled that we didn't lost like 15 - nothing
and I'm sure their team was thinking WTH was that :didi:
I was so proud of my boy (AND really excited that he didn't break another stick :bliss: )

Fridays are generally slow, but ****, I'm the only one here...

Beer plant switches line to make emergency water

Cartersville’s Anheuser-Busch plant has switched over one of its lines from producing cans of beer to producing cans of emergency drinking water for victims of Superstorm Sandy.

“We have a history of supporting relief efforts especially in times of disaster,” said Plant General Manager Rob Haas. “Emergency water is something our company is uniquely positioned to do.”

The switchover began early Friday morning and will continue for about 24 hours. During that time, company officials estimate they’ll produce and ship about 44,000 cases of drinking water. That means well over a million cans of water for disaster victims in New Jersey and New York.

“It’s a relatively easy process,” said Plant Operations Manager Scott Vail. “The biggest thing we have to do is shut down and clean, because we don’t want any beer mixed in with the water we’re sending up there to the people.”

Vail is from New Jersey and still has family in the disaster area, so the decision to switch over from beer to emergency drinking water hits home.

“There’s people up there in need,” said Vail. “We feel for them. I’m actually from New Jersey, so I have a little deeper meaning for me personally, so we understand what those people are going through.”

Company officials said the federal government does not pay for the water. They said Anheuser-Busch donates the cans free of charge, something they said the company has done for more than a hundred years.

“It makes us feel great,” said employee Sam McElveen of Floyd County. “A lot of people don’t have the opportunity to help, so we look at this actually as an opportunity to help.”
